Duane Topping, of Topping Designs, will speak this Saturday, June 16 at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre for his first ever TEDxMileHigh. Topping has participated in Denver Fashion Week for the past three seasons and his style can be characterized as sleek elegance with an edge. Not only is he a fashion designer, he’s an army veteran, self-taught sewer, LGBTQ advocate and feminist. Topping believes his models are just as important as his pieces. “For us, we like to think of our garments bringing out someone’s personality,” he explained. In the fashion industry, it’s common for models to only be valued to show off the garments, but not for Topping.
Topping celebrates his models and treats them as family. This weekend, Topping will be a part of the TEDxMileHigh: Uncommon along with other speakers and performers.
